What I know about this room
A DJ walking into a room for the first time spends the first hour learning it. Where power is, how the ceremony space carries sound, where the booth can sit without blocking a sightline, how long load-in actually takes when the parking is full.
None of that is difficult. It is just time, and on a wedding day time is the one thing nobody has spare. Having worked Stratton Creek Inn before means that hour is already spent, and it was spent on a day that was not yours.
I arrive two and a half to three hours early regardless. At a venue I already know, that margin goes toward testing and detail rather than orientation.
There is no air conditioning
Like most barns in this part of the state, and it gets genuinely hot. Worth knowing when you pick a date, because it changes where your guests will actually spend the evening.
Your guests may end up outside
At the wedding I worked here the barn got hot enough that people drifted outdoors and largely stayed there through cocktail hour and dinner. If that happens, the music has to follow them. I now plan outdoor coverage into a barn wedding here rather than assuming the room holds everyone.
The barn is split in two
The open dance floor and the booth sit on one side, dinner seating on the other, with a divider between them. The two halves do not really see each other, so announcements and transitions have to be built for a room that is effectively two rooms.
Ceremony is out in the field
Outdoors, with a separate sound setup and a weather contingency to settle in advance. Straightforward, and it is the part of the day most likely to be affected by the forecast.

No, and most barn venues in this area do not. It gets hot. That is not a reason to avoid the venue, but it is a reason to think about your date and about where your guests will be comfortable spending the evening.
What happens if it gets too hot inside?
Your guests go outside. At the wedding I worked here, the heat sent people out during cocktail hour and most of them stayed out through dinner. The lesson I took from it is that at a barn like this the sound has to be able to follow the guests, so I plan outdoor coverage rather than assuming everyone stays in the room. Do you charge extra to travel to Newfield?
No. Standard travel extends up to 180 miles from the Finger Lakes with no travel fee. Destination events beyond that are accepted, with travel arranged per event.
