A ceremony on the lake across a busy road, cocktail hour outside, and an L-shaped room indoors where part of dinner sits out of sight from the booth. I have worked it, and the wind is the first thing I plan for.
What I know about this room
A DJ walking into a room for the first time spends the first hour learning it. Where power is, how the ceremony space carries sound, where the booth can sit without blocking a sightline, how long load-in actually takes when the parking is full.
None of that is difficult. It is just time, and on a wedding day time is the one thing nobody has spare. Having worked Cayuga Shoreline before means that hour is already spent, and it was spent on a day that was not yours.
I arrive two and a half to three hours early regardless. At a venue I already know, that margin goes toward testing and detail rather than orientation.
The ceremony is across the road
Right on the lake, on the far side of a road that carries real traffic. Your guests have to cross it, so it is worth thinking about how and when they move rather than leaving it to chance. Gear goes across the road and down the hill, which is one more reason arriving two and a half to three hours early is fixed rather than optional.
It will be windy
Lakeside ceremonies almost always are. My recommendation here is a handheld microphone on a tripod rather than a lavalier: a lav sits close to the body, picks up every gust, and you spend the ceremony fighting it. A handheld on a stand gives your officiant and your vows a clean, steady sound.
The room is L-shaped
The booth sits by the dance floor with the bar alongside it. Dinner tables start straight ahead and continue around to the right, into a section that cannot be seen from the booth at all. Plenty of space, and it means announcements and cues have to account for guests I cannot see.
There is another venue next door
It sometimes runs live music, which can bleed into your cocktail hour. At the wedding I worked, their band started late enough not to be a problem, and I aimed the cocktail hour speaker in the same direction as the neighbouring venue rather than against it. Worth asking both venues about timing when you book.

Where does the ceremony happen?
Across the road from the main building, right on Cayuga Lake. It is a lovely spot. It is also a road with genuine traffic, so your guests need to cross it to get there and back. Worth building a little more time into the timeline for that movement than you would at a venue where everything sits on one side.
Is wind a problem for the ceremony?
Usually, yes, and that is true of most lakeside venues rather than this one in particular. My recommendation is a handheld microphone on a tripod rather than a lavalier. A lav sits against clothing, catches every gust, and is difficult to manage once the wind picks up. A handheld on a stand keeps your vows clean and steady, and your guests hear all of them.
What is the layout inside?
Roughly L-shaped. The booth is beside the dance floor with the bar next to it, dinner tables begin straight ahead and then run around to the right into a section that is not visible from the booth. There is a lot of usable space, and the practical consequence is that some of your guests are out of my sightline during dinner, which is something I plan for rather than discover.
Could music from the venue next door interfere?
It can. There is a neighbouring venue that sometimes has live music, and cocktail hour is the part of your day most exposed to it. At the wedding I worked their band began later in the evening, and I aimed the cocktail hour speaker the same way as their stage rather than into it, which keeps the two from fighting. Ask both venues about timing while you are planning and it stops being a problem.
What does load-in involve here?
Gear comes across the road and down the hill for the ceremony, then back up to the main building for cocktail hour and the reception. It is straightforward, it just takes time, and it is another reason the setup window matters.
Do you charge extra to travel to Trumansburg?
No. Standard travel extends up to 180 miles from the Finger Lakes with no travel fee. Destination events beyond that are accepted, with travel arranged per event.
